A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) removes loose skin and fat from the abdomen and repairs stretched or separated abdominal muscles, for a flatter and firmer stomach. It is a body-contouring operation – often chosen after pregnancy or weight loss – and not a way to lose weight.
Liposuction removes localised fat deposits through small incisions, in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, back or thighs; it does not tighten loose skin.
